Spring Hours: Monday-Saturday 10am-5pm
Always Delicious.
Never Boring!
GREEN THUMB TIME!
Flowers and plants continue to arrive daily here at Orr’s, and I’m loving all the color! The front porch of the farm market looks beautiful! We have ferns, hanging baskets, annuals, perennials, succulents, herbs, and more!
THE BARNYARD OPENS SATURDAY!
Baby goats have just arrived!!! The Barnyard crew has been very busy the last few months doing updates and upgrades in preparation for the 2024 season. I was able to go down the other day and get some updated animal photos, and boy were they loving all the attention. For now, it will be open only on Saturdays. Because this is a popular event, be sure to make your reservations before you head out. You can also find hours and pricing there.
WHY YOU NEED LOCAL HONEY
Raw, Local Honey Restock
Glory Ridge Apiary & Sonny B’s Apiary
There are so many health benefits to honey, and local honey that I’ll be writing up a blog on that late this month. For now though, I’ll leave you with a few fun facts.
- Honey doesn’t go bad. If stored in the right conditions, it can last forever.
- Local honey is made from local bees that pollinate from plants around the area making the honey contain pollen that can help combat those seasonal allergies.
- Honey is a good substitute when baking or cooking. Use it in hot tea, or try some over your pancakes.
YES, WE STILL HAVE APPLES!
Currently in the farm market we have the following varieties: Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Fuji, Granny Smith, and Gala. All WV grown, aside from the Fuji and Gala which are from Pennsylvania. It’s not too late to think about canning up some applesauce to enjoy in the late summer when we run out of apples.
PICK UP DINNER AT ORR’S!
Another customer favorite is back in stock! Our Homemade Sloppy Joe just hit the freezer section, but I have a feeling it won’t last long. Pick up a pint for $6.49, or a quart for $11.99. This is made with West Virginia ground beef, and is so darn delicious! Just let it thaw in your fridge overnight, then heat up in the skillet for a home-cooked meal! I love it over hot dogs and topped with mustard and pickled banana peppers!
SPRING FLOWER SALE CONTINUES
We still have a good bit of bulb flowers left this week. These are all perennials, so if you plant them in the ground soon, they should come back for you next Spring. There is a display located just in front of the farm market and we’ve just deepened our discount to 50% off!
AFTER EASTER SALE
We have put all remaining Easter candy on sale for 50% off. We have Reece’s, Jelly Beans, Gummies, Cadbury Eggs, and more! These sale items are located directly in the front door of the farm market.
BLOSSOM UPDATE
Our white apple blossoms are finally starting to pop open! They will be full of blossoms by Saturday! We are expecting them to last through April 20th, possibly longer. We also have some cherry tree blossoms that are fully bloomed white and great for photos this weekend too. To find out how to get to those on our farm, check out our Facebook post from a few days back. Don’t forget to read our photography guidelines before you head out.
