About Us

Bio
Owners: Chris and Michelle Grant

Christopher is a third-generation farmer. As a teen, he went to work at another local dairy farm.

That experience and his fondness for picking strawberries led him to decide that rather than raising cows, he wanted his own farm where he would grow vegetables and fruits and offer pick-your-own options.

Signature Crops

Chris started Grant’s Berry Patch in 1997 with just one acre of strawberries. Then, over the years, he added PYO options for blueberries, raspberries, and pumpkins.

There is also a large variety of summer and fall vegetables, including but not limited to, two of his most sought-after crops: sweet corn and tomatoes.

Over 12 Acres of Produce

The farm now boasts three greenhouses which allow crops to be available in early June.

Over 12 acres of produce are sold at the farm’s stand, local farmer’s markets, as part of an on-site Farm Share Program (CSA), and some excess that makes it possible to donate each season to a local food bank.

Farm Rules

It is our desire that everyone who visits the farm has the best possible experience. Therefore, we have painstakingly established a set of rules that, in our opinion, benefit the most and inconvenience the least amount of customers.

  • Treat the property with respect. While parts of our farm are open to the public, this is also our home and therefore private property, which means portions of the property— including the gardens, greenhouses, yard, and home itself—are not open to the public.
  • Drive slowly! Again, as this is our home, we have to let our dog—a precocious pug named Bert—out of the house during the day. Unfortunately, Bert’s love for people renders him oblivious to the dangers of cars, and he will run right up to, in front of, and under cars. So please drive slowly, and watch out for Bert!
  • No sampling. We appreciate that in the past, sampling has been a part of the overall PYO experience. However, it has never been a particularly hygienic practice. In order to provide our customers with the best possible experience and the safest environment, we ask that you not sample while picking. Moreover, we encourage the cleaning of all produce prior to eating.
  • Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. The welfare of your child is your responsibility while on the farm. We recommend a one-adult-per-child ratio, if at all possible, and the child must be by the adult's side at all times. Children can get excited and run up and down the rows of the fields. This is not only potentially dangerous, as the child could trip and fall, but they often trample the fruit and plants, run into areas designated to other customers, and can interfere with another customer’s experience.
  • Cash or check only. While we appreciate the convenience of credit and debit cards, there are many expenses that are associated with them. In order for us to keep costs as low as possible and continue to deliver our products at the most competitive price while maintaining high quality, we have opted to operate on a cash or check basis only. Our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
  • No smoking! We are a smoke-free facility.
  • No pets! Certified service animals only.
  • No personal containers. The Department of Agriculture does not allow us to permit personal containers for picking fruits at our farm. You may and are encouraged to bring your own bags. However, we ask that they are new or freshly laundered prior to being used at the farm.
